【摘要】:ResidualStressDetermination:Thistestmethodspecifiesahole-drillingprocedurefordeterminingresidualstressprofilesnearthesurfaceofanisotropiclinearlyelasticmaterial.Thetestmethodisapplicabletoresidualstressprofiledeterminationswherein-planestressgradientsaresmall.Thestressesmayremainapproximatelyconstantwithdepth("uniform"stresses)ortheymayvarysignificantlywithdepth("non-uniform"stresses).Themeasuredworkpiecemaybe"thin"withthicknessmuchlessthanthediameterofthedrilledholeor"thick"withthicknessmuchgreaterthanthediameterofthedrilledhole.Onlyuniformstressmeasurementsarespecifiedforthinworkpieces,whilebothuniformandnon-uniformstressmeasurementsarespecifiedforthickworkpieces.StressMeasurementRange:Thehole-drillingmethodcanidentifyin-planeresidualstressesnearthemeasuredsurfaceoftheworkpiecematerial.Themethodgiveslocalizedmeasurementsthatindicatetheresidualstresseswithintheboundariesofthedrilledhole.Thistestmethodappliesincaseswherematerialbehaviorislinear-elastic.Intheory,itispossibleforlocalyieldingtooccurduetothestressconcentrationaroundthedrilledhole,forisotropic(equi-biaxial)residualstressesexceeding50%oftheyieldstress,orforshearstressesinanydirectionexceeding25%oftheyieldstress.However,inpracticeitisfoundthatsatisfactoryresultscanbeachievedprovidingtheresidualstressesdonotexceedabout60%ofthematerialyieldstress.WorkpieceDamage:Thehole-drillingmethodisoftendescribedas"semi-destructive"becausethedamagethatitcausesislocalizedandoftendoesnotsignificantlyaffecttheusefulnessoftheworkpiece.Incontrast,mostothermechanicalmethodsformeasuringresidualstressessubstantiallydestroytheworkpiece.Sinceholedrillingdoescausesomedamage,thistestmethodshouldbeappliedonlyinthosecaseseitherwheretheworkpieceisexpendable,orwheretheintroductionofasmallshallowholewillnotsignificantlyaffecttheusefulnessoftheworkpiece.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
